Tim Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Director of Sacramento Steps Forward, which coordinates the implementation of the Sacramento Cities/County Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness.  Tim served as Executive Director of Loaves & Fishes from 2000 to 2006 and is a long time advocate for mentally disabled and homeless people and programs.

LeRoy Chatfield, publisher of Syndic Literary Journal, lives in Sacramento CA. In recent years he has published “Farmworker Movement Documentation Project”(farmworkermovement.us); “Easy Essays” & “Dialogue” (leroychatfield.us)

Leslie Edwards is a translator and writer living in Ajijic, Mexico.

Karen Ewing, a Chicago native has lived in California for the past 30 years. She involved in The Great Books Program, the Renaissance Society and the Alliance Francaise.

Sarah Flanagan lives in Arlington, Massachusetts with her husband and four children. She cooks, she cleans, she drives, she yells . . . and every once in a while, she completes a thought and writes it down. She is usually thinking about food.

Chris Giovacchini is a landscape gardener and designer in Sonoma, Ca. In 2003 he was given the “Poet as Community Leader Award” for extraordinary contribution in supporting poetry in Sonoma. He has a few self-published chapbooks. Contact: [email protected]

Ray Gonzales was elected to the California State Assembly in 1972 from Bakersfield, appointed Director of the Office of Educational Liaison by Governor Jerry Brown in 1976, and then as member of the Public Employment Relations Board where he served until 1980. He served in the U.S. Foreign Service in Guatemala, Barbados, Brussels and Washington, D.C. until 1990, returned to teaching at California State University Monterey Bay until he retired in 2004.

Constanza Goddard has left the high peaks and alpine gentians of Sierra Nevada, Granada, Spain, to return to the crashing waves and brilliant poppies of the Mendocino Coast, where she continues to draw native flora, observing similarities in adaptation between plants of windswept coastal bluffs and those of the alpine tundra.

Gerhard Gscheidle came to the US in ’64, leaving behind an engineering career to begin photographing in San Francisco in the sixties /when the livin’ was easy . . ./ Later struggled in NYC doing corporate photography. Today he lives near his hometown, Stuttgart, Germany.  Email: [email protected]

Ra. Janakiraman is a poet who lives in Salem in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Born in 1944, he earned his M.A. in linguistics,  is a member of the World Poetry Society, the International Society of Poets USA and the United Writers Association. Contact: [email protected]

Lena Jurikowa, painter and sculptor, born in Afrikanda North Russia, lives in Marne, Germany. A freelance artist in Poland since 1990 and in Germany since 1998, she works in stone, bronze and wood and has exhibited in Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Austria, Germany and Bulgaria; her work can be found in museums and private collections.  www.LenaJurikowa.de

Jerry Kay has worked as a farm labor organizer, organic farmer, natural feed store owner and radio music show host. He lives in Santa Cruz CA and is currently co-producing a documentary on the legendary Ash Grove roots music of LA.

John A. Kouns grew up in San Jose, California and became a U.S. Navy photographer during the Korean War and later worked for a time with United Press International in San Francisco. Mr. Kouns freelanced for 30 years for food, and photographed the Civil Rights Movement and the Farmworker Movement for the soul.

Karen Kung, a native of Sichuan, China, was born in Taiwan, graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University, worked as a teaching assistant of English Department in Fu Jen and studied Chinese Literature in Graduate School of China Culture and Art University. In 1992 she suffered from a serious illness and has since worked with cancer patients, as chief editor for a medical magazine, and served as the director of Little White Cabin, a children’s poetry magazine.

Steve Kwok currently is a volunteer tutor at the University of California Irvine Medical Center where he teaches ESL and Basic Computer. In 2003, Steve retired from the Xerox Corporation after 34 years of service.

Lech Lament, a member of the Polish Writers’ Union (ZLP), was born and lives in Turek Poland; he made his literary debut in 1976. John-Juan Lara is a second generation San Franciscan of Mexican American descent and a first generation college graduate and PHD. His teaching career includes serving the Christian Brothers of CA for 8 years, and UCLA and UC Irvine for 35 years where he holds the position of Emeritus Assistant Vice Chancellor.

Anna Sophie Loewenberg, a graduate of U.C. Santa Cruz, is a Beijing filmmaker and the producer of a video series entitled, “Sexy Beijing”.

Eileen McNamara is an artist/designer living in Arlington, Massachusetts. While raising her three children, she volunteers and teaches art in her community.

Dick Meister, former Labor Editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, is co-author of “A Long Time Coming: The Struggle to Unionize America’s Farm Workers” (Macmillan).

Kate Mullikin is a public middle school English and art teacher, also an artist, writer and singer. She lives and works in Santa Cruz, Ca., and encourages her students to think, not parrot, and to make the world a better place through art, poetry and positive, creative actions.

Gilbert Ortiz lives in Los Angeles, Calif. He works as a freelance photographer and consults on various art projects.

Dariusz Pacak, Polish poet living in Vienna, a member of several literary & arts associations and world traveler, has visited 47 countries. Translated into eight languagesand widely published, he is an active ambassador for poetry between East and West in his search for truth and meaning through culture’s interior-readings in Poland, China, Taiwan, Austria, Korea, USA, Mongolia, Sweden, Czech Republic..

Glen Pearcy was nominated for an Academy Award in 1975 for his third film, “Fighting For Our Lives”, a feature-length documentary film about the United Farm Worker’s grape strike. Since then he has written, produced and directed dozens of films, including documentaries for PBS and Turner Network Television; films and video programs for labor unions, consumer organizations, environmental groups, government agencies and political organizations; and television and radio spots for public interest groups, foundations, political candidates and commercial clients.

Jim Scott is a retired physicist and failed commodity trader. He is the Organizer of the Los Angeles Russian-American Club, and sometimes likes making videos in his spare time.

Terry Scott is a former UFW volunteer (1973-1988) and mother of four who lives in Hermosa Beach, California. Her current passions are photography, songwriting, and traveling.

Paul Sequeira was a Chicago-based photojournalist and free lance documentarian for more than twenty years – late 60s to early 90s. Now retired in Pioneer in his home state of California, Paul is publishing his extensive portfolio to make it accessible to the interested public.

Ram Krishna Singh, a poet and university professor, was born and raised in Varanasi, India. Peter Stiehler is the director of Catholic Worker Hospitality House which he co-founded in 1996 with his wife Kate Chatfield. Peter and Kate live in Brisbane with their daughters, Ella and Mary.

Bob Van Noy is a commercial architectural photographer who lives and works in Sacramento, California. Recently he has been photographing every day objects for display.

Sheila Van Noy lives in Northern California. She is a world traveler who is intrigued with the rest of the world and has images from six continents.

Elaine Whitman is a collage artist, photographer, and haiku poet. She also plays the Native American flute for hospice patients and their families.

Neal Whitman lives in Pacific Grove, California, and in nearby Carmel is a volunteer docent at poet Robinson Jeffers Tor House. He splits his time between Western form and haiku poetry.

Anne Chadwick Williams is a freelance photographer living in Sacramento, CA who has photographed the homeless for several years and is also a dog lover. She thinks this group of people with their dogs is the happiest group of homeless people she’s ever met and she understands why. Her website is http://annechadwickwilliams.com.

TAKI Yuriko was born in Tokyo, Japan and now lives in Ibaraki, a 100 miles from the center of Fukushima nuclear powers. She has received many awards for her poetry work, the Honorary Degree of Doctor in Literature from the World Academy of Arts and Culture, Poet Laureate from the World Conference of Poets, etc.  http://www.takiyuriko.org

Jerzy Zachara, born 1954 in Lodz Poland, graduated from the Fine Arts State Academy in Lodz and served as an assistant lecturer in the Principles of Form & Composition Studio under the direction of Andrzej Lobodzinksi. Since 1991 he has been an art therapist in the Lodz Psychiatric Hospital. His artistic activities include painting, photography, film, music and literature.
